I have these massive floor-to-ceiling windows in my Los Angeles apartment that look absolutely gorgeous... until the sun hits them and you can see every single streak, smudge, and bit of dirt. Honestly, cleaning them has been my absolute nightmare because it takes forever, my arms get tired, and I always end up with streaks anyway. So when Ecovacs reached out about sending me their newest WINBOT W2 PRO Omni window cleaning robot, I was excited but also pretty skeptical.
Here's the thing - I actually tested a different brand's window cleaning robot a few years ago and it was terrible. Like genuinely awful. The navigation was poor, it left streaks everywhere, and I ended up just going back to cleaning manually. So I went into this review with super low expectations. But after testing the WINBOT W2 PRO Omni for several weeks on my windows, bathroom mirrors, and even shower doors, I have some thoughts to share.
Why I Was Skeptical About Window Cleaning Robots
Let me be real with you - I've been burned before by gadgets that promise to make cleaning easier. That previous window robot I tried? It was basically useless. The suction wasn't strong enough, it would miss sections, and the cleaning solution it used just smeared dirt around instead of actually removing it. So when Ecovacs sent me this WINBOT, I was thinking "okay, let's see if THIS one can actually handle my situation."
But here's why I agreed to test it anyway - I've actually had good experiences with Ecovacs robot vacuums in the past, so I figured maybe they'd figured out the window cleaning thing too. Plus, my windows genuinely needed help and I was willing to try anything at that point.
What Makes the WINBOT W2 PRO Omni Different
The first thing that impressed me about this robot is the case it comes in. It's not just storage - there's a huge battery built into the case itself. This means you don't have to plug the robot into an outlet while it's cleaning, which is absolutely huge for convenience. The case charges the robot, stores the robot, stores the cleaning solution, and has this button that retracts the cable automatically. Like literally everything you need is in one compact case.
Now, the question everyone asks is: how does it stick to the window without falling? I was concerned about this too, honestly. The WINBOT uses 2800 Pascals of suction power. I don't know if that number means anything to you, but basically it creates a really strong seal. And I actually tested this by literally hanging myself off the robot just to see if it would detach. It didn't. Like it's insane how well it sucks to the glass (in a good way). It just kept cleaning like nothing was attached to it.
Setting Up the WINBOT W2 PRO Omni
Setup is surprisingly simple, which I really appreciated. You just take the robot out of the case, wet the cleaning pad under the sink, attach it back on, stick it on the window, and hold the power button. That's it. The robot starts working immediately.
There is an app you can download (which I did), and it has all these different cleaning modes which are really cool. But honestly? You don't need the app. The robot works really well even without it - you can just press the button on the robot itself and it'll do its thing in automatic mode.
How the WINBOT Actually Cleans Windows
Once the robot is on the window, it maps the edges first to figure out how big the window is. Then it starts this back and forth horizontal pattern going down. As it cleans, it sprays cleaning solution from three different nozzles. And this is important - it's a really fine mist, not a stream. That's why it doesn't leave any water spots or streaks running down the glass.
After the horizontal pattern, it switches to vertical cleaning. So it's cleaning in both directions, which makes it very thorough. The whole process is pretty mesmerizing to watch, not gonna lie.
Testing the WINBOT on Different Surfaces
I tested this robot on multiple surfaces in my apartment because I wanted to see how versatile it actually is. Here's what I found:
My floor-to-ceiling windows were the main test. These windows are HUGE and cleaning them manually takes forever. The WINBOT handled them perfectly. No streaks, covered the entire surface, and the results were honestly better than when I clean them myself.
I also have these high-mounted mirrors in my bathroom that I could never reach the top of. I literally just stuck the robot up there and it cleaned the whole thing from top to bottom. One pass, no streaks, looked amazing. This alone was worth it for me because I've been frustrated with those mirrors for so long.
Then I tested it on my shower doors, which I genuinely hate cleaning because they usually have stubborn soap scum and water spots. I ran the robot on them and they looked pretty good. Not perfect on the first pass with really stubborn buildup, but way better than my usual manual attempt.
The Different Cleaning Modes
The app has several cleaning modes that are actually useful:
Fast mode is for light dirt. I used this first and it was super fast, but if you haven't cleaned your windows in a while (like me), don't use this mode. You need deeper cleaning.
Deep cleaning mode is for heavier dirt. If you haven't cleaned your windows in months, just use this setting. It takes longer but does a much more thorough job.
Edge cleaning focuses on corners and frames, and it works really well for those hard-to-reach spots.
Heavy duty mode is specifically for outside windows. When I first tried cleaning my outside windows with just regular deep cleaning, it didn't work as well. But when I switched to heavy duty mode, it did a great job. So definitely use the appropriate mode for the appropriate area.
Battery Life and Practical Use
The battery life is 110 minutes, which is honestly impressive. I was able to do a lot of windows before it needed charging. I actually forgot that the robot wasn't plugged in because I just kept moving it from window to window. Eventually it gave me a notification that the battery needed to be charged, but I was able to just plug it in and finish the remaining windows.
The fact that it's not tethered to an outlet the whole time makes such a huge difference for convenience. You can easily move it around your house without worrying about cord management or finding outlets near every window.
What I Actually Like About the WINBOT
It genuinely saves time and effort. Like a significant amount. I can start the robot on a window and go do literally anything else while it works.
The base station design is super smart and looks great. I love that everything is stored in one place - the robot, the charging, the cleaning solution, all of it.
The results are amazing. This was honestly the most important thing for me. If the robot didn't do a good job cleaning, what's the point? But it actually works better than when I clean manually.
Using it on high mirrors and shower doors is a game changer. Not having to use a ladder for high surfaces is huge for me. Just stick it up there and let it work.

The Honest Cons You Should Know
It is loud. Not crazy loud, but definitely noticeable. I was on the phone with my mom while it was cleaning and she couldn't hear it (I have noise canceling headphones), but you'll definitely hear it if you're in the same room. It's something to consider if you have noise sensitivity or want to clean early in the morning.
The manual says it's not appropriate for frameless glass technically, even though I tested it on my shower door (which is frameless) and it worked fine. But you know, something to keep in mind from a safety and warranty perspective.
It is a luxury item. You can absolutely clean windows with a spray bottle and microfiber cloth for way less money. But here's my take on that - will you actually do it? Because I won't. I was avoiding my windows for months before getting this robot. So for me, the value is in the fact that my windows actually get cleaned now instead of me avoiding the task indefinitely.
Who Should Buy the WINBOT W2 PRO Omni
If you have a lot of glass surfaces - big windows, high mirrors, shower doors - and you've been putting off cleaning them because it's exhausting or you need a ladder or you just hate doing it, this is definitely worth considering. The robot makes the whole process so much easier that you'll actually do it instead of avoiding it for months like I was.
It's especially good if you have floor-to-ceiling windows or any windows that are hard to reach. The ability to just stick the robot on there and walk away is genuinely life-changing if you've been struggling with tall or large windows.
Who Should Skip This Robot
If you have small windows or weird shaped windows (like triangular or unusual shapes), the robot won't work really well on those. It needs a decent amount of flat glass surface to map and clean properly.
And obviously, if you genuinely enjoy cleaning windows manually or you don't mind doing it, you don't need a robot. Some people find cleaning therapeutic, and that's totally fine.
My Final Thoughts After Weeks of Testing
I'm genuinely loving this robot. I actually keep it right next to me in my apartment because anytime I'm like "okay, let's clean the windows," it's not a big deal anymore. I just grab it, stick it on, and let it do its thing while I do literally anything else.
The fact that I went from avoiding window cleaning for months to actually keeping my windows clean regularly says everything. That's the real test of whether a product is actually useful - does it solve the problem in a way that actually changes your behavior? For me, yes.
